Forecast calls for Snowtown Film Festival, January 29th - 30th

Snowtown Film Festival (STFF), the two-day celebration of film and winter will return to downtown Watertown on January 29 & 30, 2016. The 2nd annual event will open Friday evening with a “flannel-casual” red carpet reception, followed by a full day of selections, a short film competition and an awards ceremony. This year’s festival is presented by Car Freshner Corporation and supported by Pepsi Co. Organizers formed a 501(C)(3), not-for-profit corporation to formalize their efforts, and registered with the film networking website filmfreeway.com, which matches filmmakers and festivals. To date, STFF has received over three thousand short film submissions from throughout the world. Those films that best meet the festival’s mission of celebrating winter will be showcased at the festival. In addition to the short film selections, STFF will present a day of films with ties to the North Country. The festival will open at the Dulles State Office Building on January 29th with a “flannel-casual” red carpet reception and a screening of the 1982 frozen sci-fi chiller, “The Thing,” directed by Carthage-native John Carpenter. Last year’s festival kicked off with the 1996 cult-favorite, Fargo. Tickets are $10 for Friday night and $10 for a full day pass on Saturday and can be purchased at the event or available soon online at www.snowtownfilmfestival.com.
