The Book of Judith takes Grand Prize

The Book of Judith, directed by Alex Mendez Giner, took home the Grand Prize at the 4th Annual Snowtown Film Festival. The film, which screened during Snowtown Film Festival's "Ice Block" of shorts, takes a surreal journey into the mind of Judith, a widow on an isolated farm in wintry upstate NY.

The Book of Judith was written, produced and directed by Alex Mendez Giner. Mr. Mendez Giner is an active filmmaker with over 15 years of experience as a film director both in the art and commercial world. As an artist his interests range from direction, to cinematography, to scriptwriting. He has won several awards including the Audience Choice Award presented at the 14th Shanghai International Film Festival. His short films have been shown in major film festivals such as the 30th International Short Film Festival of Clermont-Ferrand, 23rd International Film Festival of Guadalajara, 28th Chicago Latino Film Festival, 19th Chile International Short Film Festival of Santiago and 4th International Short Film Festival of Sapporo among many others.

As a commercial director he has directed more than 100 commercials for international brands and his work has been shown in more than 20 countries around the globe. He was among the founding artists of the Multimedia Center for the Arts in the Contemporary Museum of Caracas and has participated as a guest artist in the 1st International Biennial of Video-Art of Israel, in the “Ve-Corto Ve-Largo 2008” Venezuelan film exhibition in Barcelona, the 1st Latin-American Film Congress in Mexico and in the Venezuelan Pavilion at EXPO Shanghai 2010.

At present time, Alex Mendez Giner works as a film professor at Syracuse University where he teaches Scriptwriting, Cinematography, Narrative Storytelling and the Graduate Production course.
