The Book of Judith takes Grand Prize

The Book of Judith, directed by Alex Mendez Giner, took home the Grand Prize at the 4th Annual Snowtown Film Festival. The film, which screened during Snowtown Film Festival's "Ice Block" of shorts, takes a surreal journey into the mind of Judith, a widow on an isolated farm in wintry upstate NY. The Book of Judith was written, produced and directed by Alex Mendez Giner. Mr. Mendez Giner is an active filmmaker with over 15 years of experience as a film director both in the art and commercial world. With Netflix, iTunes, and smart TVs, why venture out into the icy cold to watch a movie? In addition to offering incredible unique work from local and international artists, Snowtown Film Festival offers a special opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers. On Saturday, Jan. 27th, STFF will host four panel conversations between our audience and filmmakers following the screening of each of our "Official Selections." At 6:00PM, STFF will present the documentary Denial. 2018 Short Film Finalists

Thirty-five short films will screen throughout the day on January 27, 2018 at the Dulles State Office Building in downtown Watertown, NY. Films were selected from over 900 submissions to screen at the festival and compete for the Grand Prize Award. Films will be presented in seven genre blocks culminating with “Snowtown and Chill” a 90-minute block highlighting the struggles and rewards of modern romance and online dating.

2018 "Official Selections" Announced

STFF kicks off at 6:00PM on Friday, Jan. 26th with the “flannel-casual” red carpet reception followed by a screening of THE TRAGICALLY HIP: LONG TIME RUNNING, a documentary about the 2016 tour of the legendary Kingston, Ontario rock band. The reception will include a performance by Clayton-area cover band The List, as well as hors d’Oeuvres from Johnny D’s and a cash bar by Savory Downtown.
